With 2018 almost over, it’s time for the Geeks in Cambodia team to take a look back at the highlights of the year, and what you can look forward to in 2019. So sit back, relax, and enjoy our best of 2018.
The year kicked off with a bang with the launch of our sister site, Startup Cambodia, as a place for collaboration within the start-up community and providing free and accurate information on everything startup-related in Cambodia.
By Popular Demand
Going to our most popular article of the year, Cambodia Digital Statistics 2018. Cited by researchers around the world, the annual infographic featuring statistics on everything digital in Cambodia is one of few resources available about Cambodia’s digital landscape. Next year’s update is coming soon, with even more insights so don’t forget to check it out!
As more and more coworking spaces pop up in Cambodia, we found that finding the perfect space is getting harder, so in October we compiled an exhaustive list and tried our best to highlight the best attributes of each in the What Sets Them Apart infographic.
And we just HAVE to mention our infographic on the Key Takeaways from Echelon 2018, covering the thoughts and insights from the incredible entrepreneurs that attended the event.
Our Greatest Coverage Yet
This year we interviewed many of the top movers and shakers in the Kingdom’s tech and startup industries. Starting the year with the IVLP series of articles and young entrepreneurs behind Journey of Change and TosJis, we have strived to share the most important knowledge, insight and advice from some of Cambodia’s leading entrepreneurs.
We covered some of the most exciting startup stories to occur in 2018, including KOOMPI and its efforts to bring an affordable laptop to every young Cambodian; mentoring platform Sour Mouy as it tries to bridge the information gap; and Agribuddy, a startup that aims to revolutionise Cambodia’s agriculture sector.
We are also especially proud of our coverage of some fantastic women and girls in Cambodia, such as our series of articles on Three Leading Women Entrepreneurs, our analysis on how to better Engage Women in Tech, and our coverage of Cambodia’s Delegation to Women’s Forum Singapore. Expect to see a lot more on these topics in 2019!
This year we also dug into the data surrounding important reports, and some of the most influential social media platforms to bring some very interesting articles like Finding the Value of Facebook Likes, Startup Report Highlights, and Can Snapchat Work in Cambodia?
The Debut of Exclusive Reports
Last but not least, our team produced the Exclusive Report on Investing in Cambodian Startups, after asking both investors and investees on their opinions on the investment landscape for startups and SMEs in Cambodia.
We had a great 2018 here at Geeks in Cambodia and we hope you enjoyed reading our stuff as much as we did writing them. We have much in store for 2019 as we continue to provide informative content on Cambodia’s vibrant tech and startup community!
