This year’s BarCamp Asean 2019, one of the biggest tech conferences and exhibitions in Cambodia for tech companies, startups, developers, investors, creative designers, innovators, entrepreneurs and IT Professionals, took place from 12 to 13 October 2019 at the Institute of Technology of Cambodia.

During the event, tech experts and other participants gathered to collaborate, share information and learn about the latest trends in digital technologies and infrastructure.

Under the theme “Together Towards a Digital Future” participants enjoyed interesting talks such as “Driving Digital Transformation Through Immersive Technologies” by Morm Sovanntha, Development and Projects Manager at Hiverlab Cambodia, and “Building a Culture of Rapid Innovation” by Donnie Prakaso, Senior Technical Evangelist at Amazon Web Services.

There were over 50 exhibitors at the event, including Cambodian Nominees for the Asean Rice Bowl Startup Awards.

BLOC, an app food delivery service, was nominated in the “Best Newcomer” category and Arrowdot, a company focused on IoT hardware and software development for the local market, was nominated in the “Best IoT Startup” category.

BarCamp Asean has grown exponentially since its launch in 2008 when two young Cambodians started BarCamp Phnom Penh to expand the technology landscape and perspectives in the nation.

In 2012, BarCamp team organized the BarCamp Angkor in Siem Reap and 7 years later, BarCamp Cambodia has expanded to more than 10 provinces, including Battambang or Kampong Cham.
