The Awards Ceremony of the Cambodia ICT Awards

Held on June 16 at the Sofitel Phnom Penh Phokeethra, the Cambodia ICT Awards (CICTA) awarded entrepreneurs and companies for their ICT achievements.

An initiative by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, CICTA is a national competition that focuses on ICT in Cambodia’s various sectors. The awards serves as a benchmark for success in terms of innovation and creativity.

This year’s ICT Awards saw applicants participating in six different categories: the Public Sector, Private Sector, CSR, Digital Content, Startup Company, and Research and Development. The applicants came from different backgrounds, ranging from education and health to human resource and business applications.

Presided by His Excellency Tram Iv Tek, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, judges on the panel were representatives from different organisations and industries in Cambodia. They were from the ICT Federation of Cambodia, the Young Entrepreneur Association of Cambodia, the Open Institute, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, and the National University of Management.

All applicants had to carry out a 15-minute presentation in front of the judging panel. Winners were chosen based on their innovation for problem solving, along with the public value, quality and reliability of their business.

The overall winners for the ICT Awards were BookMeBus from Camtasia Technology Co. Ltd., SmartPay from Smart Axiata Co. Ltd., and TosFund from Action IEC, winning the Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively.

Here are the winners for the six different categories:

Public Sector: Sand Dredging Management System, Ministry of Mines and Energy

Private Sector: SmartPay, Smart Axiata Co. Ltd.

Corporate Social Responsibility: TosFund, Cambodia’s first crowdfunding platform, Action IEC (with partners ComeTogether and Rotati)

Digital Content: Khmer Academy, Korea Software HRD Center

Startup: BookMeBus, Camtasia Technology Co. Ltd.

Research and Development: V-Protekh PRO, Angkor E&C (Cambodia) Co. Ltd.

The Cambodia ICT Awards hopes to contribute in promoting innovation in ICT industries. With aims to bring Cambodian ICT companies to regional and international competitions such as the ASEAN ICT Awards, the Cambodia ICT Awards is in line with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications’ Cambodia ICT Master Plan 2020 and the ICT Development Policy 2020.
