Ever since the 1990s, Cambodia has experienced an exponential growth of Non-profit Organisations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). One of the main concerns for many local CSOs in the Kingdom is sourcing for funds, which often turns out to be a time-consuming process as donors and the necessary support needed are not as readily available amongst the local communities here.
Technology that helped the disaster-stricken areas of Nepal and flood-prone Bangladesh is now extending its reach to Asia’s Lower Mekong River. It is expected to better predict and cope with floods and other natural disasters and build greater resilience to the negative effects of climate change.
The Khmer Natural Language Processing Consortium was created in 2014, and gathers universities, researchers, NGOs and private sector companies working together on creating effective natural language processing tools aiming to improve access to information and communication in Khmer language.
