Spikes Asia 2014: The Four-Day Celebration of Creativity

From forward-thinking seminars by influential industry figures to superb networking events and stunning exhibitions of the region’s best creative work, Spikes Asia is back this year to gather the creative community for a spectacular four-day celebration of creativity in communications. Last year, 1800 delegates attended Spikes Asia 2013, so we expect no less from the festival. (Check out our social media takeaways here and here!) With everything kicking off in the near month, 23 to 26 September 2014 at Singapore’s Suntec International Convention & Exhibition Centre, the hype is up for the celebrations to start!

If you are wondering where to begin, we’ve drawn up a list of highlights in chronological order to make sure that you are the right place at the right time!

Spikes Seminars (23 to 26 September 2014)

With 40 keynote sessions stretched out across four days, the seminars at Spikes Asia 2014 are a good place to start. The speakers for this year are a regional and international mix of leading names in the communications industry and beyond, including “Two Kids in a Garage” by Kristian Barnes (Vizeum), “The Art of Storytelling” by Sunita Rajan (BBC), “Cracking Contextual Creativity” by Will Sansom (Contagious), and “Baozi, Baozi, Baozi!” by Gramham Fink (Ogilvy & Mather). Spikes Work Exhibition & Screenings (23 to 24 September 2014)

Reel in what this year’s jury for the prestigious Spikes Asia Awards shortlisted at the Spikes Asia Shortlist Exhibitions and Screenings! It presents a fantastic opportunity to get an up-the-minute snapshot of the region’s creative output, identify trends and fill inspiration banks with new ideas. The shortlist release for 23 September follows these categories: Branded Content & Entertainment, Design, Digital, Film, Integrated, Media, Mobile, Outdoor, PR, Print, Radio, Healthcare; while 24 September welcomes the rest of the works from: Creative Effectiveness Lions, Direct, Film Craft, Innovation, Print & Poster Craft, Promo & Activation.

Spikes Nights (23 to 26 September 2014)

The celebrations continue late into the festival, starting with an Open Cocktail Reception hosted by cinime (Yummi Media Group) on the first night! The rest of the days will also see cinime hosting a Happy Hour session from 17:30 to 18:30. On the second evening of the festival, Singapore’s leading agencies Bates CHI, Starcom, JWT and Dentsu Aegis Network will each host a Networking After Dark party for delegates. This is where delegates can get acquainted with some of Singapore’s top agencies, make new contacts and enjoy an evening of great parties. The night events will wrap with the Spikes Asia Awards After Party on the last night.

Spikes Asia Awards Ceremony (26 September 2014)

Finally, the moment everyone has been waiting for — the Awards Ceremony. With two new sections to add on to the previous 16, six special awards and four Young Talents awards, it is a grand moment for all. The winners of this year’s selection will be announced live at the Grand Theatre, Marina Bay Sands, where it will follow a spectacular celebration of the winners and the year’s excellence in creative communications! The ceremony will continue late into the night at the official After Party, so be sure to keep up the energy!
