The Final Pitch of SmartStart Cycle 3 on June 9 showcased the best of what Cambodia’s young innovators had to offer, where 15 of the programme’s chosen teams vied to be part of the top five teams to win $5000 and an opportunity to participate in a six-month incubator program with Impact Hub Phnom Penh.
After the intensive five-day Technopreneurship Challenge at Kampong Cham last month, the teams impressed the panel of judges with their refined ideas at CKCC, showing investor-ready pitches with their business models, digital solutions and teamwork.
“From one year to another, we have seen better applicants, better business ideas and better pitches during the final event. That’s why this year, we decided to increase the prize money to 5,000 USD! Congratulations to all the teams for their efforts and dedication,” congratulated Thomas Hundt, CEO of Smart Axiata.

So Samphors, a member of STYLE, expressed, “It has been wonderful 3 months for my team and I as we have learned so much. SmartStart is certainly the country’s top tech competition for university students. I am very thankful to all the parties for developing such a comprehensive program. We are looking forward to realize our idea in the next 6 months.”
The five top ideas will progress to the incubation stage, where the teams will have access to resources, mentorship and collaboration opportunities to see their ideas come to life in the form of tangible products and businesses.
The most outstanding team with the biggest progress made will be awarded a fully-funded trip to Singapore, with visits to the offices of the world’s most successful tech giants, Facebook, Microsoft, LinkedIn and Google.
