SmartSpark is a 10 weeks intensive incubation programme sponsored by Smart and based at Impact Hub that focuses on solutions to achieving Cambodia’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by supporting young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas that tackles pressing social and environmental issues of today.
Spanning three years and with a total of nine cohorts, SmartSpark will incubate a total of 54 impact ventures.
The first cohort of innovations addresses four of the 15 SDGs, set out by the United Nations to advocate for a positive global change, by focussing on Social Welfare:
SDG 1 – No Poverty
SDG 2 – Zero Hunger
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being
SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation.
You are eligible if you:
Are a Cambodian between 18 to 30 years old
Have a business idea regarding the above mentioned four SDGs
Are an entrepreneur that is at the idea stage and wants to test the feasibility of their business idea
Commit to the idea of ‘working’ part-time with your evenings and weekends occupied
Speak both Khmer and English
Applications open on the 18th of August, followed by SmartSpark Mini-Hack happening at Impact Hub Phnom Penh on the 22nd of August from 6pm to 8pm. The mini-hack is conducted for aspiring participants to better understand the challenges and severity of each issue before creating solutions to each challenge. It is also an opportunity for like-minded people to network as they embark on this programme.
Applications close on the 10th of September, and the six shortlisted teams will have access to Impact Hub’s workspace, network, mentoring and coaching, and workshops with tailored business support. At the end of the six-week workshop, the six teams will pitch to a panel of judges and audience. The winning team will receive $3,000 to turn their business ideas into reality, with continued support from Impact Hub Phnom Penh.
