Five-time “Best Telecommunications Company Cambodia” award winner Smart Axiata has plenty in store for Cambodia with their 5G live trial showcase on July 8, becoming the first in the Kingdom to showcase 5G technology in partnership with Huawei Technologies Co Ltd.
The 5G live trial entitled “Empowering Cambodia for the Future of Connectivity and Digital Lifestyle” showcased an array of future possibilities that could shape societies by transforming interactions, industries and economies.

The event was graced by H.E. Moa Chakrya, Chairman of the Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia, and involved demonstrations by Smart CEO Mr Thomas Hundt, CMO Mr Stjepan Udovicic, and Ambassador of Malaysia H.E. Ambassador Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim. The 5G connection was tested for speed, low latency and connections, and it is said to unlock entirely new applications and transform economies at large. According to Mr Hundt, Smart will invest hundreds of millions of dollars over the next few years in 5G mobile network and will work with Cambodian government to obtain approval before launching commercially.
