At Geeks In Cambodia, we highly admire any ICT initiatives for education. Coming up on 26 December 2014 at Development Innovations is an event to explore the prototype of the reading assessment app. This event is part of EZECOM’s Innovation in Action learning series and will take place from 3:30PM to 5:00PM.
What is a reading assessment app? It is developed specifically for grade 1 and 2 teachers, in order to assess their students’ reading capacities. This Android app zooms in on five areas, namely, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension and reading fluency.
With this app comes more accurate estimation of the students’ strengths and weaknesses. It takes into account the timing, score as well as calculation. After the test, teachers are able to help students in the areas that the app has found them to be struggling in, which is entitled the Rapid Response System.
The event will see Sokchanna Chhay, ICT Specialist, World Education Cambodia. He will be sharing on his reading assessment app prototype. Learn about his journey in developing this app, gain more insight on how the app works and see the impact that it will bring to education in Cambodia. He will be demonstrating how it works, as well as talking about the Technology of Education System Transformation (TEST) project.
Having worked on integrating ICT into teaching and learning for about seven years, Channa will definitely inspire the audience with his experiences. He has also provided technical support to over 100 ICT teachers from 35 schools.
