Urban women and young girls of Cambodia rejoice! International development organisation Pact and USAID plan to boost the women-led entrepreneurial landscape in the Kingdom for the 3 million 15-35-year-old women and young girls.
By working with partners already working across Cambodia, such as SHE Investments and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, the We Act programme aims to achieve success in 6 key areas:
· Responsive Business Networks
· Business Skills Building
· Reducing Barriers to Appropriate Forms of Capital
· Participation in Policy Formulation and Government Leadership
· Appropriate Engagement Platforms
· Changing Social Norms
We Act will initially focus on Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Battambang, before working in two other cities in Cambodia, explained Sabine Joukes, Pact Cambodia Country Director, at the launch event.
“…together, as a system, we aim to lift up all women entrepreneurs in their endeavor towards growth and success,” she noted.
The first open calls for proposals are planned in the next few weeks, and will center around Responsive Business and Civic Networks and Innovative Youth Engagement Mechanisms, Ms. Joukes added.
