In its fourth year running, Tech in Asia (TIA) Tokyo is set to showcase the best of Asia’s rising startups on September 27 and 28, 2017. Among the largest tech conferences in the region, TIA Tokyo expects to gather 150 exhibiting startups both local and global in the Bellesalle Shibuya Garden.
For the first time in TIA history, attendees can expect a more hands-on approach with the introduction of workshops. These Startup Strategy workshops will cover invaluable information regarding the various practical aspects of running a tech start-up. Some of the English topics include “How to set your Company’s Brand Strategy” and “How Global Startups can work with Japaneses Corporates”. These interactive sessions with industry experts in the region aims to equip attendees with the skillset needed to boost sales and gain recognition for their businesses.
These workshops will run concurrently with the Main Stage, where renowned and accomplished speakers will share their insights and take questions from the crowd. Attendees can expect to learn from the likes of Yasukane Matsumoto, founder and CEO of Raksul, Daisuke Sasaki, CEO of Freee, Yuzo Kano, Co-founder and CEO of bitFlyer and more, as they speak on their area of expertise and tech.
Apart from learning, the conference also provides startups and investors ample opportunities to network and meet potential partners through various planned activities, including the Startup-Investor Speed Dating.
The Startup-Investor Speed Dating has been a favourite among the crowds in past conferences. Similar to traditional speed-dating events, this segment allows startups to pitch their business to potential investors within 7 minutes, hopefully to initiate a relationship with a potential investor. This year, startups may choose to pitch to over 50 local and international investors, ready to find the next big thing in tech. More information on this segment can be found here.
Bootstrap Alley will feature booths from over 150 of Asia’s most exciting startups. Specially curated and picked, the exhibition of startups helps the businesses to gain customers and helps open doors to new opportunities. Attendees can get to ask questions directly to the entrepreneurs and have a first hand look at the product offerings of each company.
Another highlight to look out for in the conference is Arena. It is a competition where the best startups pitch their business ideas, gaining immediate exposure to hundreds of investors, potential customers and media. Opportunities to pitch to investors are usually a rare chance, let alone to a whole conference hall of them. Entrepreneurs will get on stage and exhibit their ideas, battling out with others to make the best pitch.
TIA targets mainly investors and entrepreneurs, however, even those uninvolved in this line of business will find much interest in the conference. Cambodian startups that participate in the TIA workshops & events will get the opportunity to meet with global industry players and gain practical advice from international experts, to be applied in the local context. The knowledge gained through this conference may help to differentiate your business from the other local competitors.
