Just like last year’s Innovators Under 35 (TR35) nominations, The MIT Technology Review is looking for innovators in the Southeast Asian region to honour in its prestigious TR35 list.
Since 1999, young innovators with exciting inventions and research have been offered a place in MIT Technology Review’s list. The work of these innovators, who are all under 35, spans across various fields – biomedicine, computing, communications, energy, materials, Internet, and transportation.
Only 10 selected innovators will present a three-minute elevator pitch at EmTech Asia 2017, an event where the worlds of technology, business and culture meet. They will pitch their ideas and innovations in front of an audience of over 700 distinguished innovators and investors. Additionally, these innovators will automatically become finalists for the global 35 Innovators Under 35 list.
One of the previous TR35 nominees, Javier Gomez Fernandez, Assistant Professor at the Singapore University of Technology of Design, believes that being recognised raised awareness of their innovation to a broader community. He said: “I develop new materials that are inspired by nature and made using the same components as nature. The outreach of TR35 enabled many people to learn about our work. Because of this outreach, several people from industrial and academic environments have approached us looking to collaborate and support out work. TR35 is a great opportunity to publicise your work and establish new collaborations.”
Nominations for TR35 are open and will close on 9 September 2016. The judging and selection process will carry on during the months of September and October 2016, and the announcement of the 10 honourees will take place on November 2016.
As this Innovators Under 35 list strictly recognises Asian innovators, nominations are only open to citizens of Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Brunei, Australia, New Zealand and Taiwan.
Nominees have to be under the age of 35 as of 1 October 2017 to be eligible.
This is an open invite to all Cambodian innovators to make their mark on MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 list. To register as a nominee, visit EmTech Asia. For more information, take a look at the FAQ.
