Something big is brewing in the heart of Siem Reap, and it is calling out for all the social entrepreneurs to join the fun. Following the collaboration between Social Enterprise Cambodia, Young Startups and The Hub Singapore, the first YS-HUB Social Entrepreneurship Bootcamp will be held at the 1961 Coworking and Art Space from 18 to 20 July 2014!
With its grand entrance, the bootcamp is here to ensure that change happens for the country’s sake. Ideas will be transformed into powerful social ventures with the potential to create scene disruption; and a myriad of support from international facilitators, as well as mentors from the homegrown scene will be present. In a bold statement, the bootcamp is for anyone who wants to make a difference. It calls out to the genre of change-makers (eg. social entrepreneurs, experienced managers, directors of NGOs) and tells everyone to pick a challenge. The bootcamp will teach the participants how to identify the problems, define the theories of change, construct business models and come up with sustainable solutions.
The structure of the bootcamp follows a 48 hours workshop where teams have to design a new solution to a neglected social problem. Participants can come alone or with a team, but Friday will be dedicated to collective social problem brainstorming sessions. Teams of two to four members will be formed to work on a chosen issue for the remaining two days. By Sunday’s late afternoon, ideas will be presented to a judging panel of social impact investors and experts, with the participating teams becoming eligible for continued coaching and possible investment from Young Startups and other social impact investors.
The bootcamp also builds a platform for participants to connect to Cambodia’s growing social enterprise community to maximize their resources. If a society works together to create meaningful social impact ventures, the nation is encouraged to advance in the same direction. It will prove to be a challenging, exciting, and productive weekend in an inspiring space and community, so sign up here today!
