A factsheet by the United Nations Global Compact stated that in Cambodia, an estimated 1.2 million children are trafficked every year. Human trafficking is a scourge both locally and globally, and InSTEDD iLab Southeast Asia recognises the growing threat of the situation. If you are a program or project manager working for anti-human trafficking organisations, the InSTEDD Innovation Camp is here to aid your message with the right tools.
The structure of the camp follows a daylong hackathon, where participants and developers form teams around a problem or idea relevant to their field, and collaboratively explore existing digital tools or code a unique solution from scratch. InSTEDD aims to provide a venue for developers and those with an understanding of problems to help design, develop, improve, and release technology tools and solutions to regional health, safety and development. Participants will be able to take back their prototypes or designs after the camp, and apply these innovative solutions to their projects to yield greater outcomes and impact.
The camp is opened to anyone who is hoping to take his or her messages beyond auditory means. From program managers to technologists, tech enthusiasts, and thinkers, this camp will bring together a collective evolution of solutions and see discussions aiming to curb the societal problem of trafficking.
It is important to note that InSTEDD only offers aid with these objectives in mind: introduce the mobile tools, design the prototype of solutions to match the requirements of the use cases, and create collaboration between grassroot organizations to spur new ideas and innovation. The actual implementation will be up to the participant’s potential and passion after the camp’s enrichment!
InSTEDD Innovation Camp will take place from 8.30am to 5pm, 3 July 2014, at the InSTEDD iLab Southeast Asia premises.
