Cambodia’s growing market has attracted the world’s third largest smartphone maker Huawei, originating from Shenzhen, China, to launch two newest models for the locals. The two models are Huawei Ascend G730 and Ascend Y600.
The smartphones were launched last Monday at the company’s official ceremony. Huawei saw great potential in the mobile demand from Cambodia, and has already decided to promote its brand wholly within the country.
“Cambodia is one of our key and fast growing markets and we have lined up exciting plans and new products launching in the coming months,” said Cary Yang, Chief Executive Officer of Huawei Technology Cambodia, “There is great potential in growth of smartphone users here and Huawei wants to encourage consumers to try and enjoy technology of smartphone with Huawei at very competitive prices.”
Huawei is a major key player in the mobile industry, with roots in over 140 countries serving over one-third of the population. According to the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the number of mobile phone subscribers in Cambodia has reached 20.2 million last year from a country with a population of only 14.8 million. Perhaps the huge difference in users and usage was what made the giant come aboard, but we are sure that Huawei’s entrance will suffice for now.
