Fifty-nine students were presented with Certificates of Achievement for being the first to complete the Sisters of Code programme at Mondulkiri Café on June 26, presenting their polished projects in game and website development.
Embarking on the programme with no coding experience, the girls have learned fundamental coding principles from scratch. After 18 weeks, they are now equipped with a basic knowledge of coding and pre-intermediate skills such as coding algorithms and structures, following the IT Academy STEP developed curriculum.
“We believe Sisters of Code can become an outstanding example of successful gender inclusion in the digital economy development and make Cambodia to lead this area among ASEAN countries. We hope Sisters of Code can motivate more female students to consider technology as their career path, thus supporting rapid Cambodian development and bringing positive impacts to their lives and the lives of their families,” expressed Mrs Nataly Rodionova, managing director of IT Academy STEP Cambodia.
