Green Cambodia with Your Business Ideas in SmartSpark Cohort 3!

SmartSpark, the business incubation programme organised by Smart Axiata and Impact Hub, is back with a brand new focus on Cambodian startups aiming to protect the environment!

According to an article by Open Development Cambodia, the Cambodian agricultural industry contributes to 35 percent of the Gross Domestic Product and employing about 60 per cent of the labour force. Sustainable environmental management would be essential in ensuring long-term economic development and prosperity.

This Cohort is looking for business ideas that:

  • Provide affordable and clean energy for all

  • Promote and maintain responsible production and consumption of products

  • Reduce and reverses the damage from man-made climate change

  • Protect marine, coastal and land ecosystems from pollution and disruption

Applicants must fulfil the following criteria:

  • Cambodian aged between 18 to 30 years old

  • Maximum of 4 members in a team

  • Bilingual in Khmer and English

  • Are available to attend the six weekly workshops, Pitching Night and Celebration event in the programme from July to September

Shortlisted applicants will attend group workshops to receive customised 1 to 1 mentorship and coaching and access Impact Hub’s Innovation Garage and network of creators and change-makers. They will demonstrate the fruits of their progress during the grand finale at Pitching Night, and the winner will walk away with USD3000 to start making their business idea a reality!

For inspiration on business ideas, such as technological waste management company SmartBin, SmartSpark invites those interested to explore at the Youth with Impact Ideation Workshop that will be held on 1 June from 8.30am to noon at Impact Hub Phnom Penh!
