Get EPIC with Impact Hub – Cambodia’s first year-long incubator program

Are you an epic entrepreneur with a business idea or startup that utilises technology to create a positive impact on Cambodia’s society or environment? Then Impact Hub’s EPIC Program is just for you!

In partnership with Development Innovations, EPIC is a 1 year program that will invest in and support early-stage entrepreneurs and startups to launch and grow their businesses. This scheme will be the first of its kind in the Kingdom to invest up to USD$20,000 in 5 exceptional social startups.

“EPIC’s goal is to help aspiring entrepreneurs through the most difficult part of developing a venture – the first few steps. EPIC will support entrepreneurs to create an impact driven product and a business plan which are strong enough to raise money from investors, foundations or other sources.” says Laura Smitheman, co-founder and COO of Impact Hub Phnom Penh.

The program will be split into two phases – the incubation stage, and the acceleration stage.

Incubation

Applications have been opened since 29th August, and interested parties will have to send in their technology based, impact focused ideas by 23rd September this year.

After the application period ends, 10 teams will be selected for the incubation period, which will commence in mid October. This period will last 8 weeks, and consist of customised workshops, bootcamps, and mentor days.

Teams will then have to pitch their ideas at a Demo Day, and only 5 teams will be chosen to move on to the acceleration phase.

Acceleration

Commencing in January next year, the selected teams will work with business mentors for 36 weeks in order to accelerate their startups. The USD $20,000 investment will include resources for rapid prototyping, stipends, workspaces, and consultation sessions.

Through Impact Hub, teams will also be able to access a vast network consisting of support from mentors with various backgrounds, and the opportunity to match with potential investors.

The acceleration phase will end on a final Demo Day, where the 5 teams will pitch their startups to an audience consisting of potential investors and grant givers. After Demo Day ends, Impact Hub will still continue to provide support to these teams, in order to help them grow and scale their impact.

At the end of the 1 year program, Impact Hub aims to have launched 5 new sustainable ventures with a sociable impact, secured additional growth capital, and created a replicable incubator model.

Mentors & Speakers

Teams will be able to rub shoulders with international and local mentors and speakers, working closely with them throughout the 1 year program.

These include Grace Sai, CEO and founder of Hub Singapore, Sopheakmonkol Sok, CEO of Codingate Cambodia, Nicholas Lazos, Investment Director of Insitor Management Cambodia, and many more qualified professionals.
