Have some free time on the 17th or 19th of May? Interested in learning more about startups in the United States? Then catch “Generation Startup”, a documentary about young American entrepreneurs at Raintree tonight, or at Major Cineplex at Sorya Mall on Saturday.
The documentary captures the challenges, victories and comradery built within six college graduates who placed everything on the line to build startups in the northern U.S. city of Detroit. The movie was shot over the span of 17 months, and highlights the highs and lows of developing startup businesses.
Following the screening on Thursday will be a discussion on topics such as entrepreneurship and women’s empowerment – all of which themes were mentioned in the movie. The Saturday screening will feature a Q&A session with Cheryl Miller Houser, the award-winning filmmaker behind the project.
The film highlights the risk-taking and rewarding aspect of entrepreneurship in America, and by showing the films in Cambodia, the directors hope that it will help spur more Cambodian entrepreneurs to give their business ideas a try.
