If you’ve been following Geeks in Cambodia in recent weeks, you would’ve read our EPIC! series – where we’ve been catching up with teams currently enrolled in the EPIC programme.
While that series is still running, we wanted to introduce another series to round off the year and launch us into 2017!
In 2016, Cambodia’s entrepreneurial scene has enjoyed seeing developments on many fronts, including AgTech, FinTech and EdTech with startups and events like the Asia Agricultural Innovation Summit, Startup Bootcamp FinTech, BanhJi, Edemy and MLabs.
With such developments taking place along with the rise of more and more apps, we at Geeks in Cambodia turned our attention to the many individuals and organisations who are helping to support the growth of this scene through various initiatives.
That’s why we thought that as we end 2016, we wanted to do a series called “Behind The Geeks”, where we will sit down with individuals from organisations who are helping to support the growth of the startup scene in Cambodia.
In this series, we will find out what drives these individuals forward and keeps them motivated while getting a little preview into what their organisation has planned for 2017.
By doing this, we hope that the burgeoning entrepreneurial community here in Cambodia will be charged up and inspired to bring their ideas to life in the next year.
So if you’re an aspiring entrepreneur or startup founder who is considering taking a leap of faith and bringing your ideas to life in 2017, this series is definitely one for you!
The series kicks off tomorrow where we sit down with Laura Smitheman, the co-founder of Impact Hub Phnom Penh. Since setting up here in the Capital, Impact Hub has helped to mentor and incubate many businesses in the Kingdom, while also starting Cambodia’s first ever year-long incubator programme EPIC and hosting numerous training events for the community.
For the other parts of the series, we’ll be having a chat with Rithy Thul, the founder of Smallworld, Be Chantra, the man behind events like BarCamp ASEAN, Ki Chong Tran, the co-founder of ARC Hub PNH which helped Team Rat Hunter fabricate their final product as well as the investment group from the Asian Development Bank – the Mekong Business Initiative.
With that, we hope you will stick around in the coming weeks to find out the stories behind these amazing individuals and their organisations as they support the startup and entrepreneurial community here in the Kingdom.
Hang on tight as Geeks in Cambodia takes you “Behind The Geeks”.
