Projectors are no surprise to us, but a projector that has the ability to turn any surface into a giant 80″ interactive touchscreen? TouchPico, an Android PC that combines the experience of a desktop, mobile device and projector, is here to change surfaces forever, and the magic is all in their infared stylus. Enough said, it is the projector for your pocket.
The flexible functionality of TouchPico is only one of the many features that have attracted the widespread spotlight on this device. Fully compatible with both Apple MacBook and PC laptops, it uses a projected touch interface and wireless streaming to allow projection, interaction, two-way interactivity, and unlimited apps capacity.

As we mentioned, the power is in the stylus. It offers pinpoint accuracy and functions in the same manner as the usual smartphone (or tablet) touch screens: just touch the projected images according to your intentions. How is that done? The team’s infrared detection technology tracks the stylus and that allows users to control and interact with the image that is projected on any surface at 40 frames per second. The stylus itself has a tiny infrared emitter, and the signal is captured by the TouchPico’s tiny built-in infrared camera and processed by an image processor to convert it into touch screen coordinates.
Imagine the possibilities of a portable, handheld projector that is only slightly heavier than a Samsung S4 phone and just about the same size. It can be used for a myriad of options, from business presentations to playing smartphone games to movie streaming, or even an interactive table! TouchPico not only supports native Android apps, it is also calling for developers to think outside of the (projection) box. Developers can take advantage of the interactivity and size to explore cool ventures such as family board games!
TouchPico will retail for $499, but is available for $399 on their Indiegogo campaign platform here! The gadget is also supporting a cause to make the whiteboard experience widely accessible for every teacher in the world, so make sure to check out their TouchPico Pro project, a fully integrated Android interactive projector with 400 lumen brightness (good enough to fit a classroom) and Content Management System. The gadget is available in either black or white, and all projectors will come with the stylus. You can find out more information from their Facebook page here!
