At a recent digital transformation workshop focused on the Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Cloud Computing, the audience of government ministries, banks, MFIs, telecommunication operators, NGOs, business startups and students heard from 15 distinguished guest speakers on Cambodia’s place in the digital era.

With digital technologies affecting both commercial and business decision-making, the workshop allowed attendees and ICT experts to share their knowledge, experience and successes when using technology as leverage in their business. As H.E Tram Iv Tek, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, mentioned in his opening speech, ICT integration and security, digital economics, and ICT financial and skills investment are all vitally important as Cambodia progresses towards a digitised society.

Organised by the National Institute of Posts, Telecommunications & ICT (NIPTICT) and Kepstar Data Centre Management Co. Ltd, the workshop highlighted how ICT technologies are shaping the Kingdom’s economy and society.

The exchange of experience between local and international experts at the workshop was intended to push the development of Cambodian industry, according to H.E Dr. Seng Sopheap, NIPTICT President. He noted that by Cambodian industry embracing ICT and a digital focus will bring positive effects to the economy and society, and stressed the importance of introducing innovative business models and increasing competencies of job markets to ensure the digitalisation success.

As the Kingdom looks to a prospective future of a digitalised age, workshops such as these will hopefully create more platforms for conversations that will aid Cambodia’s tech development, and allow the country’s rich creative talent to shine and flourish.
