Digital precautions are extra tight these few weeks in the wake of recent Internet bugs, but do you know what you are dealing with exactly? Development Innovations will be hosting an evening session of digital security talk tonight with Bill Doran, the Consultant Developer and Data Analyst at eQualit.ie.
Hailing from Ireland, he has been involved with various security and open data programs throughout his vocation. Other than starting the Knowledge Exchange, an open collective group that aims to bring education to all by following the theory that “anyone can use Wikipedia or the Public Libraries to design and follow their own curriculum;” he has also dubbed in numerous project developing software.
His expertise in digital security focuses primarily on the welfare of NGOs, activists, civil society groups, and journalists. Highlights of the talk includes a general discussion on the use of free open source digital security tools, identifying the challenges facing open source developers and users, and how to ensure you are getting the best out of using secure communications, data protection, destruction and encryption to ensure privacy and anonymity on the Internet. He will also touch on the importance of mobile security.
