DevBootstrap Returns with its 5th Cohort this November

Starting on 7th November and lasting for a week, DevBootstrap is opening its 5th cohort right here in Phnom Penh.

If you have aspirations of being a software developer but don’t really know where to begin, or, you simply need a refresher course in coding, this is the perfect programme for you.

DevBootstrap is an intensive one-week software developer training course that aims to give its students the skills needed to make an impact on the market as a skilled software developer.

You’ll receive training from DevBootstrap’s team of committed and accomplished coaches, including some of the industry’s leading experts. These experts include Darren Jensen, the lead coach, who is a software developer, entrepreneur, programming teacher and has been involved in several Cambodia startups including Mangomap, CoLab and Hackerspace.

Another of the coaches who you will receive training from is Chris Brown, the lead JavaScript coach. An active member of the BarCamp movement in Cambodia, Chris is often found speaking at events across the region and is known to be an “omnipresent figure in Cambodia’s burgeoning hacker community”.

A third coach whom you will get to meet is Arky, the lead client tools coach at DevBootstrap who boasts experience in gnu/Linux and is now working as the community manager for Mozilla.

And the list of coaches does not end there. The DevBootstrap team have numerous other accomplished coaches in the field of coding who will be right by your side as you go through the one week programme.

As mentioned earlier, the aim of DevBootstrap is to equip you with the necessary skills to become a software developer within a week. Of course, nothing good comes without hard work so according to the DevBootstrap website, you can expect to “work harder than you have ever before”.

While it may seem daunting, the skills that you will be equipped with through the programme are well worth the effort. You’ll be able to choose between one of two streams  – client and server, each having its own specific purpose in software development.

Within the server stream, students will learn about Ruby on Rails. Rails is an incredibly useful server side technology that builds prototypes and world-class production ready applications. This server technology has quickly become the first choice framework for startups and developers all around the world.

As for the client stream, students will learn about JavaScript and Angular JS. The latter is a fairly new framework that is backed by global powerhouse Google and aims to make developing powerful, ‘Gmail’ style, responsive applications a breeze.

There’s so much to be learnt across the one week intensive training course at DevBootstrap and if you put in your best effort, you’ll definitely come out ready to make an impact on the market as a software developer.

What’s more, if you are unemployed and a Cambodian citizen, a full scholarship is available which will cover the cost of your entire programme. If not, think about it as a $100 investment into your dream of being a software developer.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to and start your journey to developing the software of your dreams!
