An all-star tech and startup lineup took to the stage at Workspace 1 at FACTORY Phnom Penh to share their insight into topics such as tech, startups and social innovation using Nerd Night’s rapid 20×20 format.
Quantum Endorphine Digital’s (QED) Adrienne Ravez, Impact Hub’s Melanie Mossard, KOOMPI’s Rithy Thul and SHE Investment’s Celia Boyd along with 5 other speakers, each had 20 slides — and 20 seconds a slide — to impress, teach and inspire the 250+ audience members.
Organised by Nerd Night Phnom Penh in collaboration with Workspace 1 by FACTORY and Impact Hub Phnom Penh, the event gave opportunities to both businesses and participants to showcase the ever-growing startup and SME ecosystem in Cambodia.
“We hope everyone learnt that everyone has good ideas, and that ideas are the beginning of the next startup or business!” explained Workspace 1 Programme Manager Carlos Estevez, describing the event as a “great success.”
The 20×20 format ensures snappy and fun presentations, and forces presenters to rethink how to best share their messages.
“I really enjoyed giving my first Nerd Night talk, but the quick format is certainly a new challenge for me,” said Adrienne Ravez, Chief Operating Officer at QED.
“My presentation was about the ‘benevolent economy’, a new trend in business that encourages businesses to plan to integrate philanthropy in their models so as to drive impactful and meaningful convergence of mutual interests. Philanthropy is an important topic in Cambodia, and one the audience tonight seemed to appreciate,” she added.
