Barcamp Battambang 2018 was the sixth and last Barcamp event in Cambodia for this year, a fantastic run of events around the Kingdom. It was also the fifth Barcamp to be held in Battambang, with this year’s focus on technology and startups targeted at young local adults.
More than 2,000 people attended the two-day event, and more than half were women, which is great to see.
Forty speakers from across Cambodia, including 18 Battambang locals, brought their diverse ideas and knowledge to share their experience in topics such as technology, entrepreneurship, and tourism, explained Chantra Be, the Co-Organiser of Barcamp Cambodia.
“We have engaged more young local entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals to talk and share with their local youth. Half of speakers are local entrepreneurs and business owner here in Battambang,” he said optimistically.
He added that the most popular topics were on running a business, entrepreneurship, and skills such as photography and vlogging.
“After BarCamp 2018, we have proved that provincial youth and business owners need such events to growth their networks, knowledge and understanding of new business concepts, digital technology and the latest innovation trends.”
Geeks in Cambodia looks forward to see what the BarCamp team have planned for 2019!
